The Carriage Factory Art Gallery in downtown Newton is called a "hidden gem" of South Central Kansas. This two-story former carriage factory is now an art gallery with Kansas landscapes and other fine art for sale by Kansas and regional artists. The gallery includes a gift shop with a wide selection of original cards, jewelry, books, one-of-a-kind sock critters, and other unique gift selections in all price ranges.
The gallery's adjacent Krehbiel Park includes outdoor sculptures, an English fountain, and park benches for visitors to enjoy the view. Activities include music, refreshments, and featured art every Third Thursday, 6-8 p.m, Second Saturday at the Gallery with free make and take art projects for kids ages 4-10, Rosie’s Art House in Krehbiel Park with free art supplies, and a scavenger hunt available for our youngest visitors. The gallery hosts opening receptions for new exhibits in their Main Gallery and mezzanine level Koehn Gallery every 8 weeks, featuring refreshments and artist talks.
Regular gallery hours are 12 p.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
