Newton offers lifelong learning opportunities and features many different types of learning options. 

USD 373, Newton's Public School system, boasts a wide range of quality educational choices, including state-recognized Advanced Placement and Career/Technical Education classes. USD 373 features a state-recognized Fine Arts program and every sport offered by the Kansas State High School Activities Association. With around 700 employees, USD 373 is one of the largest employers in the city of Newton and in Harvey County. More than half of USD 373 teachers have their Masters degrees. Newton High School special education teacher Brian Skinner was named the 2023 Kansas Teacher of the Year. Mr. Skinner represented USD 373 at the state and national level, even getting to visit the White House and meet the President and First Lady. He used this time to advocate for Special Education.
