Newton CVB Event Sponsorship Application

The Newton Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) offers assistance to groups, organizations, and non-profits who offer programs that will enhance the tourism environment for the City of Newton.

Goals of the CVB Grant:

  • Increase overnight stays at Newton hotels
  • Promote a positive image and increased visibility of Newton's attractions and events
  • Increase visitor spending in the Newton community
  • Provide programs and activities beneficial to drawing additional tourists

Applications are due by January 19th, 2026 at 5pm. If there are remaining funds after the initial distribution we will allow for applications throughout the rest of the year as needed. If you apply later in the year, applications are due at least one month prior to the date of the event for which funding or support are being requested. Grants will be awarded to those engaged in the promotion of a convention or tourist related special event.

Requirements

Those eligible to apply include any group, organization, or non-profit conducting a program in Newton. Such parties may apply for assistance according to the following:

  • Funds provided are to be used to help promote, advertise, or market the event, and in turn increase occupancy rates in Newton hotels
  • Projects must promote out-of-county visitors and have more than a local impact
  • Projects should enhance Newton's image as a visitor or group destination or as a convention site
  • Choose Newton must be a sponsor of your event and given credit with logo placement on marketing materials
    • All applications must use the logo and taglines appropriately. Failure to properly credit Choose Newton may result in the denial of future grant applications
  • Applicants must provide evidence that the Choose Newton logo and/or taglines were used properly. Such evidence must be provided to the CVB office along with a report on the event and how the funding was used within thirty days after the event
    • The report must include: an overview of how the event went, number of hotel stays, copy of marketing materials, at least 10 photos to be used in marketing materials, any additional information you would like to report
  • Please be advised that a grant may be awarded less than the amount requested or not at all, depending on the number of applications received and the appropriateness of the applications
    • We will use Placer data to help evaluate the number of attendees for events
  • Approved grants will be paid only to the grantee. No direct billing to contractors or vendors is allowed.

In addition to financial support for an event, Choose Newton and the City of Newton have additional programs and opportunities to help support your event through coordination and promotion.

Choose Newton Services

  • TravelKS.com: Choose Newton can post and update listings on the official travel website for the State of Kansas
  • Choose-Newton.com: Choose Newton manages the Community Events calendar on their website. Also, if you would like to write a blog post to be included on our website we can feature that on our website, newsletter, and social media. We would love for your help in sharing the Events Calendar to help continue to grow the use of this as a community resource.
  • Social Media: Choose Newton can post and share items to their Choose Newton Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube pages. 
  • Best of Newton Calendar: If you know your event date by early fall we can include your event in the Choose Newton printed calendar. Please submit your event details at Choose-Newton.com/Events as soon as you know your date to ensure that you are included. Typically dates must be submitted by mid October to be included.
  • Billboard: If you are awarded a CVB Grant you will receive a free billboard placement along I-135 on both digital billboards in Newton. The billboard must include the Choose Newton logo. If you would like for Choose Newton to design your billboard please let us know at least one month before the event.
