Downtown
Newton's Downtown is the heart and soul of our community! A place where everyone can gather together, shop and dine local, and enjoy community events. We are proud to be a part of Kansas Main Street and Main Street America as an accredited Main Street program since 2022. The program is designed to bring economic revitalization to communities with an emphasis on restoration and preservation of core downtown business districts.
What does Choose Newton Main Street do?
So much! Our Main Street Board, Coordinator, Business Owners, Property Owners, Chamber, and many dedicated community members work to make Newton a great place to live and do business.
We help:

- Promote Newton's downtown as a great place to be and visit

Main Street 4-Points
The National Main Street Program is made up of 4 main points known as the Main Street Approach. This approach offers community-based revitalization initiatives with a practical, adaptable framework for downtown transformation. The Main Street Approach helps communities get started with revitalization and grows with them over time.
Promotions
- The PROMOTIONS committee is run by a group of volunteers and Main Street & Chamber staff
- Goal - encourage local shopping and dining, bring visitors to town, engage residents, and market Downtown Newton as a destination. All activities are designed to encourage economic activity and investment in our community

Design
- The DESIGN committee is run by a group of volunteers and Main Street staff
- Goal - create a vibrant downtown commercial district by enhancing the district's physical and visual assets and works to preserve the legacy and stories of the Downtown Historic District through historic preservation

Economic Vitality
- The ECONOMIC VITALTY committee is run by a group of volunteers and Main Street staff
- Goal - to support, educate, and provide resources for all entrepreneurs and businesses throughout Newton and grow a sustainable core business district Downtown

Organization
- The ORGANIZATION committee consists of the Main Street board of directors and Main Street staff
- Goal - bringing people together to work toward the same goals and to create a strong foundation for sustainable growth in Newton's Downtown District which benefits our whole community
