Sashiko Embroidery for Beginners
Sashiko Embroidery for Beginners
Join Dena Bisnette and learn the art of Shashiko Embroidery, Saturday, August 23, 1-4 PM. Shashiko is a Japanese technique that originated as a method of mending clothing, but is now considered a form of embroidery. It consists of running stitches – only minimal sewing skills are necessary for this class. Participants will learn to make decorative patches of denim and cotton. The patches can later be sewn to textile items like clothing, bags, or home decor. We will explore some traditional Japanese as well as non-traditional designs.
$40 per student. All needed supplies and tools will be provided. This class is for participants of any age able to use a needle and manipulate fabric by hand. 10 and under accompanied by an adult. Register by August 16* on our website
