Encaustic Workshop

Join artist Barb Mizik for this exciting Encaustic Workshop. Saturday, October 18, 9 AM-4 PM. Bring a lunch or enjoy something from a downtown restaurant.

We will learn about:

– Priming your surface

– Fusing between layers

– Various ways to apply encaustic medium

– Adding marks with pastels, wax crayons, alcohol inks and more

– Building up layers and scraping your surface

– Carving/Incising into the wax and filling it with medium or oil stick

– Using stencils with encaustic medium.

Stencils will be provided

– Making transfers with prints or magazines.

– Finishing and Cleaning edges

This process involves using hot wax, heat guns and oil paint so wear closed shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting messy.
